Tidal Townhall

Thu, July 26, 2018 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM

ReThink Energy Florida has received grant funding from First Street Foundation to host nonpartisan Tidal Town Halls statewide. Tidal Town Halls are platforms for our local, state, and congressional candidates to share their positions on sea level rise and related policies, such as adaptation and mitigation strategies. These events will be highly publicized and are hosted in partnership with over 20 other nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations statewide.

Rising seas threaten our coastal communities, from coastal erosion impacting our beaches, to saltwater intrusion jeopardizing the ecology of Florida's globally-rare Dune Lakes. Increased storm frequency and intensity already impact our infrastructure, with flooding being a major issue in many Florida counties, including Escambia and Walton County. Citizens are concerned about these environmental issues and want your input.

ReThink Energy Florida and the League of Women Voters of Okaloosa County and Walton County are hosting a panel of candidates for the Walton County Tidal Town Hall

The forum will be divided into segments for each race and candidates will answer questions from a moderator and the audience. Refreshments will be provided.
